Vanier Community Unveils New Public Art on Montreal Road
Please join the Vanier community as they unveil new artwork by Mark Seabrook, Ksenyia Tsoy and Tito Medina. The event will be on Friday, December 10th at 10:45am, at 250 Montreal Rd on the Regional Group Property.
This 7-foot-tall structure honours the indigenous people who are guardians of this land and our community, as well as the French and other cultures that make Vanier so unique. It is part of a concerted effort to celebrate the “IndigiCity” that is Vanier. Grandmother Irene of Minwaashin Lodge will be present to help us set intentions and honour the land on which we gather. The BIA will then invite Kseniya Tsoy and Mark Seabrook to say a few words about their vision and pieces.
PHOTO OP: Following this Grandmother Irene, Councillor Fleury, Councillor King, the artists, representatives of the Regional Group, the BIA, the Community Association and the VCSC will pose for the official photo.
These works were made possible thanks to grants from City of Ottawa Diversity in the Arts Fund,
City of Ottawa BIA grants for Murals, and contributions by the Vanier BIA.
