Communications Policy

Vanier is a special neighbourhood. Its multicultural and bilingual nature is a gift for all of us, and the Vanier Community Association is deeply committed to promoting its work to Vanier residents in both French and English. There are a few exceptions: when sharing content from other sources, we will generally post only the original French or English. Occasionally we might share something in only one language.

But generally, we share in both languages. To do so, we rely on a combination of volunteer translators, bilingual writers, and edited AI translations. While we try our best, this means that sometimes our English is clunky. Other times, our French grammar might be a bit less polished than ideal. Please be patient with our linguistic quirks- and better yet, come help us out! We are always recruiting bilingual members who are willing and able to support our bilingualism goals. Volunteers have said that translating or editing publicity for events, minutes of meetings, reports and position documents has been a good way to keep up with what is going on in our community. If you would like to try your hand at translation, please contact our communications and outreach team at vcacommunications@gmail.com to discuss how you can help.
