Celebrate Hurdman’s Bridge 150th Anniversary

The Overbrook Community Association cordially invites you to Celebrate Hurdman’s Bridge 150th Anniversary
Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A few steps south of 1 Donald Street, next to the bike path.
Did you know that the first bridge linking our community to the west side of the Rideau River was Hurdman’s Bridge, opened in January 1875, 150 years ago this year! A wooden toll bridge open to pedestrians and vehicles, it led to the establishment of businesses, residential development and OVERBROOK was born. Over the years, 10 bridges have come and gone, becoming an integral part of our community identity and heritage. Five years ago, volunteers from the Overbrook Community Association started a project to create and install a kiosk to present information about the Rideau River and Overbrook history and heritage. Join us for a ribbon cutting event, including treats, performances, artisans and more!
