Official Launch of the New HUB Vanier: A Space Designed and Built by the Community
Vanier, November 21st 2025 — The Vanier Community Services Centre (Vanier CSC), in collaboration with the Vanier Business Improvement Area (Vanier BIA) and The Action Lab, is proud to announce the official opening of the Vanier HUB, a new innovative community space that reflects the commitment, creativity, and solidarity of local residents.

More than 138 volunteers — architecture students, residents, and community members — actively participated in the design and construction of the HUB, many of whom were recognized by Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. This collective effort transformed the project into a true driver of community cohesion and shared pride, with an impressive total of 11,000 volunteer hours.
The project was made possible thanks to a $188,700 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. In partnership with Vanier BIA and The Action Lab at Carleton University, the Vanier CSC carried out an ambitious site transformation, including participatory design, development of site plans, basic infrastructure, and installation of play modules.
Thanks to volunteer engagement, in-kind donations, and the expertise of partners, the total value of the project now exceeds $550,000. HUB Vanier is intended to be an inclusive and dynamic space, serving as a gathering place for the entire community.
Seeing HUB Vanier come to life is an immense source of pride. This space brings colour and vitality to our neighbourhood and has become a true gathering place for the whole community.
